About

Ipomonia is an emerging metal band from Denmark, that blends elements of modern progressive metal with a Nordic melancholy, creating a distinct sound that traverses both the intense and the introspective. Drawing inspiration from names such as Leprous, Eivør, and Wardruna, the sound of Ipomonia is characterized by magnanimous compositions, existsing in the intersection of progressive metal’s technicality and melodic sensibilities of Nordic traditions. The greek word for patience, ‘Ipomoni’, stems from an ancient philosophy, that enduring through suffering is the very foundation of wisdom. Alongside Ipomonia, one steps into a land of lingering dreams and nightmares, when the progressive metal-project release the first music in 2025.

Ipomonia has among their first shows in ’26 performed at Epic Fest ’26 and will be opening for Mercenary in Aarhus and Copenhagen this autumn.

‘Contemplation I’ was released in ’25 and involve collaborations with a selection of prominent Danish progressive metal musicians: Eskil Rask of Iotunn provided fretted and fretless bass, Frederik Uglebjerg (formerly Svartsot) provided drums, and Tue Krebs Roikjer of Morild screamed into the void on Dysphoria. The EP was mixed and mastered by Frederik Uglebjerg and supported by KODA-kultur.
Ipomonia further was supported by the Danish Art Foundation for the creative process of the following release ‘Contemplation II’.
